Aim and Scope:

This session provides a meeting place for researchers studying how to extract useful knowledge from huge volumes of information stored in databases using techniques based on biologically inspired computing. Biologically inspired techniques in Data Mining are crucial for the scientific advancement of this discipline because they provide a set of tools to discover useful knowledge from data, such as pattern recognition, time series forecasting, protein structure, etc. The main objective of the Special Session on Biologically Inspired Computing for Data Mining in the Third World congress on Nature and Biologically Inspired Computing NABIC 2011 (http://nabic.ujn.edu.cn/nabic11/) is to exchange ideas and knowledge for the advance of this line of research. The intended audience is the scientific communities of Bioinformatics, Data Mining, Computation, Artificial Intelligence and Systems Biology.

Topics:

The major topics of the session include bio-inspired computing for:
1. Instance-Based Learning, Scalable Learning or Incremental Learning: Feature
Selection, Classification, Clustering, Association Rules.
2. Multimedia Mining
3. Ambient Intelligence Mining
4. Text Mining
5. Spatial and Spatial-Temporal Data Mining
6. Data Streams Mining
7. Time Series Mining
8. Web Mining
9. Applications: Engeneering, Marketing, Managing, Medicine and Biology
