Check-In Times

The check-in counters at Brunei International Airport (BWN) open 3 hours and close 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time. In order to avoid causing a flight delay or disappointment in missing your flight, you are advised to arrive at the airport for check-in 3 hours before your flight. Please have the following travel documents ready for check-in:

Baggage Allowance

Royal Brunei Airlines offers a check-in baggage allowance of:
• 30 kg. for Business Class Passengers
• 20 kg. for Economy Class Passengers
Please ensure that each piece of luggage does not weigh more than 32 kg.

Excess Baggage

Any baggage in excess of the free baggage allowance must be charged for irrespective of the class of travel. The charges may be found on the page Excess Baggage Rates. Special Baggage Charges

For baggage that is intended to be checked in for a flight, it’s outside dimensions should not exceed the sum of 62 inches per piece. If any piece of checked baggage has exceeded the 62 inches, the following conversion rate is used to determine the cost of carriage:

Compare the actual weight with the volumetric equivalent weight and charge the higher. Carriage of volumetric baggage is subject to space available in the aircraft cargo hold. A passenger’s free baggage allowance may be considered when excess baggage weight is charged.

Sporting Equipment

Sporting equipment may be carried as part of the free baggage allowance in accordance to the class of travel. A passenger who checks in eligible sporting equipment will be granted a 5 kg waiver of excess baggage charges when eligible sporting equipment is checked in.

The 5kg waiver may not be combined with ANY other waiver. For example if a Royal Skies Silver member checks in with eligible sporting equipment only the 10kg Royal Skies waiver will apply.

The following items of eligible sporting equipment that may be included as part of a passenger’s free baggage allowance:
• Golf equipment
• Snow/Water ski equipment
• Angling equipment
• Surfboards and Surfing Equipment (not windsurfing)
• Scuba equipment
• Bicycles
• Bowling Balls

The equipment must be properly packed to avoid damage.

Bicycles must be packed in a manner where the handle bars are positioned in the same direction as the bicycle frame. Parts such as pedals, lamps, mirrors, and bicycle stand must be dismantled. Tyres must be deflated.

Scuba equipment, knives must be carried in checked baggage. Spear guns must be unloaded with the spear packed separately. Compressed air tanks will only be accepted if empty and the valve open. Flares are dangerous goods that may not be carried as checked baggage.

Sailboards used for windsurfing are not acceptable as checked baggage due to their size and may only be carried as manifested cargo.

2. Singapore Air Line (SQ)

SQ is the best code sharing air line with Royal Brunei Air Line. This gives the best enhancing connectivity to the globe. Hence, RBA strongly recommends the use of SQ flights for the destinations RBA does not fly.

3. Malaysia Air Line (MH)

MH is the second popular code sharing air line with RBA. This also provides ample of destinations to the world.

4. Air Asia (AK) – the best budget airline

The world best budget airline which travels to BWN twice from its main operation city Kuala Lumpur will allow you to reach BWN through the cheapest possible route.
