Short Biography
After finishing high school in 1999, I entered the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. I graduated in July 2004 and later that year (September) I started post-graduate studies in Information & Communication Technology in the Stan-Ackermans Institute, located in the Technische Universiteit, Eindhoven. I spent one year in the X-Ray Predevelopment department of Philips Medical Systems, Best, where I worked full-time on the development of a prototype system for improved DSA imaging. After completing my post-graduate studies in 2006, I returned to Greece and joined the Multimedia Knowledge Group at the Informatics and Telematics Institute (one of the institutes of CERTH). In September 2007, I started a distance part-time MBA program in Blekinge Tekniska Hogskola, which I completed in July 2009. In February 2012, I completed my PhD on knowledge discovery methods in massive social content under the supervision of prof. Athena Vakali at the Informatics department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. My research interests pertain to multimedia analysis, knowledge discovery and information retrieval.
